Jill Scott, definitely gave her heart and soul to the people on Monday night in Wingate Park of Flatbush, Brooklyn. Approximately 20,000 people (all races, sizes, and faces) gathered to see one of the greatest female vocalist of our time belt Rhythm & Blues, Hip Hop, Funk, Jazz and so much Soul. I felt honored to be there witnessing it all. This was my first Jill Scott live encounter besides the release of the live version of Who is Jill Scott. She spoke to us about being an artist and having to be obedient when "it" happens- meaning, listening and responding to the reaction of inspiration.
Ms. Scott shared with us a little something new, "I am the millisecond before the millisecond that told you to think...Do you understand what you feel inside?" The words she said where not her own but were place on her from the only one who is the millisecond before the millisecond that tells you to think. Uplifting and thought provoking. There were no cameras allowed on the premises so I couldn't take any pictures...but I know someone who did (found this on youtube...not the best quality but listen to the voice MAN! )! Coming soon.
